From the fringe
Whispered messages from the fringe meeting to discuss the way forward in Wales ...
Labour's performance in the Assembly Election was nothing short of disastrous.
It's time for a new Welsh Labour.
It's time for a more centrist approach.
I'ts time to say bye-bye to 'clear red water'.
Do you sense they're already thinking, if not saying, bye bye to the man who coined the phrase?
Lord Kinnock's contribution at another fringe meeting is even blunter. Unlike Gordon Brown he's referred to the Conservatives ... unfortunately, as 'bastards'. He was seen earlier wiping a tear from his eye after the PM's speech. Can he argue he's tired and emotional?

I haven't heard Kinnock's speech, but I think you may be jumping to conclusions about his reference to 'bastards'. He may not mean what you think he means.
It may just be a reference to that age old adage that in politics you'd rather have people you don't like inside the tent, rather than outside, er, making life difficult [and wet..] for those on the inside.
And we all know what a big tent Gordon's got, don't we...
I would also be very careful of using the phrase 'tired and emotional' - that euphemism has been used so often that one may no longer be able to argue that one didn't mean anything disparaging by it..

Hello again BG.
I think he means what he seemed to mean. And tired/emotional means just that.

In an astonishing speech to Labour’s fringe conference, Eluned Moran, MEP for Brussels Midi, demanded, “A massive shift of resources to property owning people”!!!
“Clear Red Water is well and truly over! We need to touch base with the upwardly mobile Charlottes and Gavins of our Cowbridge heartland! They don’t want Marxist dogma or Treorchy Trotskyism; they demand multi screen Waitroses on every Whitchurch street corner! Prada and Porsches in Ponty...Nu-Lite cuisine in Newport!
“The working class is now passé…triste…move on… and anyway, the ungrateful bs/tds either slam the door on us or vote for the Plaidies… Middle Wales Moderne is US! Allez le neuf Bleu!
Neil Kinnock [British Council - Travel] , then shouted, “Hit ‘em with your massive property portfolio, Eluned, Me and Glenda is right with you!!!

I think we're all a bit "tired and emotional" when it comes to the prospect of a snap election.
We had a leaflet drom David Hanson MP the other day - first time in ages.
Does this minister in a marginal know something about a possible election that we don't?
Anyone else noticed an upturn in Labour activity on the ground?

I must say I am now really quite confused as to where Welsh Labour stand on constitutional issues such as devolution...Carwyn Jones speaking in favour of the Union!! Do we still have two factions within Welsh Labour? a nationalist and unionist? or have we moved on. It feels to me that Welsh Labour seem to be lurching from one identity crisis to another!

I think people on the centralist wing of Labour have forgotten that it was because of the identification with London that Labour lost so badly in Wales. The clear red water was not clear or red enough for people here. Of course the centralists have to blame Rhodri for being too different - its their way also of quietly bashing the coalition. I suspect we will see a none to subtle sniping from the sidelines between the two Labour wings, not left and right, but Welsh or British Labour.
