They FOIA for you
FOIFA - it's not an international football association, but the Freedom of Information Filer and Archive, a new web-based idea to both make it easier for the public to put in freedom of information requests and also to publish the results.
It's the initiative of the team behind the successful theyworkforyou website. The idea came originally from FOI journalist Heather Brooke, arising out of the example of the National Security Archive in the US.
It should certainly be a useful tool for individuals who want to submit FOI requests to numerous government departments, and over time it may become an interesting repository of answers. It's currently in development. If you want to get involved, visit here.

I'd be glad to make some requests, even if I'm not in the UK!

I do hope FOIA is going to be more friendly to the public than our own Freedom of Information Act. In our case, it is a matter of if you get the information you seek in a readly friendly form or before you go down Cemetery Road.
Getting anything in the way of answers from state (ours is Texas)govenment is a crap shoot. You may or may not get anything resembling your request.
