The problem is that Adam needs a hit, he is capable of singing absolutely anything in any genre so what does he sing? there are 14/18 very diverse songs on his album any one of which could have been a single, and tousands of very diverse fans all of which have an opinion as to which song should be it. I the circumstances I think he chose well even though that isn't my favorite song on the Album,(Broken Open and Down the Rabbit hole are much better, and also show off his songwriting abilities) he was also trying to break out of the Nicey Niceness of American Idol, hence the Lyric 'Bet you thought I was soft and sweet, Fallen Angel swept you off your feet' It was too much for America however and they had to resort to the safer 'What do you want from me' after all, which was a shame.
This song may not display his fantastic voice as well as it should, but there are other songs on the Album which do, and this is only the beginning anyway.

I don't watch American Idol. I've never heard of this guy before but I love the song. I heard it on the 519 show a couple of weeks ago and was surprised I hadn't heard it before or since on Radio 1.

I can't hear the resemblance to Womaniser at all. If it bore any similarity to Womaniser, I'd hate it. If anything, the intro reminds me of Sam Sparro's Black and Gold and the whole track is Goldfrapp-like.

I can't comment on Adam Lambert's vocals based on one song but what I can say is that there is no indication of autotune on this track and that is something you can't say for the "singer" and song Fraser McAlpine is comparing him and it with.

I LOVE this song! Catchy, sexy and sure to be hit on the dancefloor. Adam's voice is spectacular. I heard a couple of times on Channel 4, it would be great to hear it on Radio 1.

Well I ABSOLUETY LOVE this song! I have been waiting to hear it on Radio 1 for ages and am staggered that it has only been played once to my knowledge. I listen to Radio 1 every day at work and find it ridiculous that For Your Entertainment hasn't been added to the playlist considering some of the songs I hear on a daily basis. I agree with Cattywoman in that I don't hear the resemblance to Womaniser and please do not place him in the same sentence as Selena Gomez! It is a fantastic fun song that puts a smile on my face whilst I am bouncing around my house! Adam Lambert is one of the most exciting performers to come out of the States for a long time, his vocal skills are unmatched, his performance skills constantaly surprise, astonish and amaze, and his album is packed of tracks that connect emotionally on many levels. I recomend that everyone buys a copy on May 3rd, you will not be disappointed. I do not skip ANY tracks on the album and that is saying something! He is an absolutely amazing singer and performer and the fact that I might get to see him sing live next Monday in London makes me so excited that I might actually be a little bit sick!!!

Not just at the ridiculous comparison to the Selena and Britney songs but at the absurdity of mentioning someone with a voice like Adam Lambert in the same article as a girl with a sweet but unspectacular voice and the most successful marketing and production exercise in the history of music.

This songs quite good to be honest, i've heard it on my local radio (BBC Radio 1 wasnt working for me that day) when they interviewed him and i hope he does well with this song, 4 Stars!

Not only does Adam have a great voice and superb Album he has the ability to draw fans of all ages and from all walks of life.

The Album is the first for many years ( if ever before ) that has something for everyone.

If you are unsure of FYE on first listen then listen again it really is a great song.

I think this song is great. It's definately a grower, the more times you hear it the catchier it is! It's a great tune to dance to and also demonstrates lamberts exceptional vocals. It's a great first single for him to bring out, as it introduces his attitude and his wild sexy nature, but the rest of the album shows his diversity as an artist and there really is something for everyone. 'FYE' DOES have some similarity to other songs in the charts at the moment, but does that not go for most songs that have ever hit the mainstream? hit songs should demonstrate whats popular now. And 'FYE' still shows significant difference to others. His vocals, for one, are like no other. The lyrics (especially for a male artist) are risky and clever, and even though its argued that the song sounds similar to others, I think it's totally fresh and appealing to a wide variety of listeners.

Very glad you've pointed out Adam's undeniable ability though. His range, control and projection are just out of this world, and I say that as someone who has a degree in music and who has a lot of friends who are excellent singers! He can sing just about anything and completely excel at it, as evidenced in his Idol run and beyond.

This is a great first single, I think - commercial but with a bit of edge to it. It's not my absolute favourite on the album, but it's certainly up there in the top 4 or 5.

For what it's worth, I think Adam Lambert is exceptionally talented as a singer and performer and a rarely charismatic personality and I love this song. It's just the sort of thing I hoped he would do. There are other similar tracks on his album and I wish there were more like it but Adam is versatile and has many different influences and there is nothing wrong with that. Most artists who stick to one genre only do that because they are limited in their ability, not through choice.

I will hold my horses on how successful I think he will be though.

Catty - nothing wrong at all. But there's a history of fanclubs periodically signing up here en masse to moan about an unfavourable review for their act (Killers, Mika, etc), then disappearing a day or two later. This looks like one of those times. The regulars normally have a laugh about it, and we will likely continue to do so.

I've been playing this track non stop since December 2009 I love it, I actually think it's one of the best tracks on the album and that's coming from someone who didn't watch American Idol and my favorite band is Muse! The song puts me in mind of Goldfrapp and Sam Sparro, it's super sexy. Maybe when he arrives in the UK this week and comes and has a chat with radio 1 you'll get more of an idea of what he's about, check out Down the Rabbit Hole on is VH1 unplugged session to get an proper impression of his ablity, I'm hooked.

after reading these reviews for who-only-knows-how-long, I always wondered why a) Chartblog reviews song NOT on the radio 1 play-list and b) why some of the songs they review aren't on the play-list? Anyone know why?

Can't see the similarity to Womanizer at all, it's nothing like. I loved FYE from the first time I heard it! very catchy, dancey but still shows Adam has a fantastic voice and as someone else pointed out the song's got abit of an edge to it. His album is fantastic and so diverse, it's the first album I've ever bought were I've actually loved every single song on it though my fave can change from day to day, and I like that about it. Not only does he have an incredible voice but he is also an amazing performer

But I'm loving this debut track and really looking forward to the album - from the comments above it sounds as though it's a great album. Does it really matter he is AI Alumni? Radio 1 go gaga over Leona Lewis who actually won X Factor so I don't see the difference personally.

I for one am enjoying Adam's sound compared to some of the R&B/Rap rubbish that seems to be churned out by Radio 1 these days (if I wanted to listen to that, I'd listen to 1Xtra....).

I think the connection with Womanizer comes from the vocal melodies in the verse, which are very similiar, and the fact that it's a similar type of music. I can also see why people say it's very similar to Black and Gold.

Personally for me it's no more than a 3 Star song because all the elements seem to come from other songs and because that synth sound irritates me so much.

As someone who is usually a fan of heavy/industrial rock like Rammstein, AC/DC and Metallica, I absolutely adore Adam. I think we've been waiting a while for the next big international male pop star, and think Mr Lambert is it. Can't wait to see him at Heaven on Monday!

I have been a fan since Idol auditions, but his version of Ring of Fire was attention grabing. His vocals ability is out of this world and his stage presence is eye catching.

I bought the album as soon as it came out and I love For Your Entertainment as the single, I think a good choice for his debut single cannot see the comparison with 'Womaniser'.

I have always been a fan of flambouyant rock stars but also of rock music, previous most listened to was My Chemical Romance and Avenged Sevenfold but Adam Lambert has taken the crown. (GunsNRoses, Hanoi Rocks and Motley Crue back in the day)

My husband loves Adams music and album as well and is coming with me to the gig at Heaven next week, and came with me to see Adam on his last trip to Birmingham.

I am surprised that I have not heard it more on radio 1. Adam Lambert is sure to be a sensation over here.

This comes as absolutely no surprise to me , that there are so many people here , who are moved by Adam and his music.

Coming second on American Idol , and having the winner Kris Allen even saying :

Some of my highlights included Adam's versions of Whole Lotta Love and If I Can't Have You.

To prove just how special Adam is , as a man , and as a vocalist , you just have to listen to Queen guitarist and legend , Brian May , when he admitted that he was seriously considering hiring Adam as Queen's lead singer for a world tour .
Yes , he visualised Adam as a talent , that would do justice to those Queen classics. previously sang by the amazing Freddie Mercury.

The journey Adam has been on lends himself to have so many devoted fans.

Some could even argue that Adam Lambert is the first openly gay mainstream pop artist to launch a career on a major label in America.
That interview Adam conducted with Rolling Stone Magazine after American Idol , must have took a lot of guts , and I am sure this lends people to admire his determination and spirit , as well as his music and vocal articulation and passion.

My first introduction to Adam's album was around 6 months ago , when I was invited to hear the finished product , but as an added piece of fun , I had to guess the tracks written by Justin Hawkins , Pink and Muse !
Yeah , of course , I guessed correct.
It's a good album , with fine songs and high songwriting strength and Adam delivers the vocals with that superb voice of his .The thing that may hamper it in the UK, is that it's slightly middle of the road in it's song arrangements and production values , though there is no doubting there are some fine songs housed inside , and America loved it because of this.

It entered the America chart at number 3 , but may prove too MOR for huge British success .

The Pink penned track " What Do You Want From Me ? ", is my personal highlight , and was my hope for the first single. On a personal level , this songs meaning is so emotive to me , and Adam's voice really reaches me , that I can't help but give it 5 stars .
The bridge and chorus are absolutely first class , and when he sings :
"I think you could save my life " , well it hits me.
A truly special song .

Regarding the single "For Your Entertainment " , it is currently number 57 on downloads , up from last weeks 73 , and with the physical release , I dearly hope that he makes the top 40.

Given the profile of the singer , I am surprised that Radio 1 have so far not playlisted the song , given Adam's American Idol adventure and the obvious amount of fans he is building in the UK.
It is a very radio friendly song with a strong , memorable chorus , and Channel 4 are using it , in various guises on TV.

I would love to know why it has not been playlisted .

I only just registered but I'm not new to this site, it's just the first time I've felt moved to make a comment, and I'm certainly British, I'm certainly not an American Idol fan unless Adam's on, my favorite Band is Iron Maiden. Adam grabbed my attention last year with his Ring of Fire, and I found myself loving him despite my reservations about the whole American Idol thing, just could not help it.
I've never bothered to request Iron Maiden on Radio 1 because I know there's about as much chance of them being played as Gordon Brown turning out to be an Alien, but I'm amazed that Adam is being ignored by Radio 1 because For Your Entertainment is so obviously aimed at their target audience, and even sounds good to me as a confirmed Metalhead.

I agree with all you said about the build up to Adam. I followed it with interest. . . like I said I have some of his Idol stuff. Also was interesting to see some of the stuff that happened afterwards, like when he kissed a man on live TV during a performance and the complete and utter madness that kicked off as a result.

So when I heard this I was very disapointed! I will listen to some of the other tracks you mention Spirit and see if he lived up to the expectations in another way.

I've just been reading all the comments and am surprised to learn this isn't on the Radio 1 playlist. It sounds just like the kind of thing Radio 1 DJs play, and better than a lot of it.

I don't know much about Adam Lambert but I'm beginning to get why his fans jump to his defence so much. From the little I've seen and heard (music and interviews) he's obviously a real and unusual talent and seems a lot more intelligent than most of our current stars.

For Your Entertainment is NOT on any of the Radio 1 playlists , either A , B or C.

I feel myself that the song , at least warrants a C listing , as it is currently just outside the top 40 , at 57 , his album will be released on May 3rd , he has released a radio friendly track , albeit drenched in Americana , his global profile and journey is well documented ,he is a "new" act , and he no doubt , has many fans in the UK .

I expect Adam's websites and fansites have constructively asked his fans to lobby Radio 1 messageboards to ask for his song to be playlisted , as physical release date approaches , and the business people and fans are bemused why radio is not forthcoming.
All these well meaning Adam fans are asking for Radio 1 to playlist his song , and this is done because of their affinity with the singer.

This is why we are having the joy of meeting such well meaning fans , I just hope one of them will write a gig review for Adam's gig at Heaven, and I hope some of them stick around and comment on some other artists and join in the fun we have here .

Spirit I have to say I actually agree with most of your comments about the album, I'm still confused why some of the best tracks are only bonus tracks (Voodoo and Down the Rabbit Hole), I'm glad they are going to be on the UK release as I think the UK will appreciate these tracks. I'm hoping on the next album Adam pushes for being heavily involved in the writing process and taking more creative risks.

Favourite songs , what he was wearing , crowd reaction , how was his voice , his rapport with the crowd and vice versa.

I would be interested to hear , which song gets the biggest audience reaction .

I am not sure if For Your Entertainment was the correct choice for the first major UK introductory single , as radio is not fully embracing it .
My choice would have been Whataya Want From Me ? , If I Can't Have You , Aftermath or Music Again , but the whole album , as I have mentioned before is sonically , clearly aimed at the American market to a strong degree .
Some may argue they are very good songs , but lack the musical glow that emits from songs needed to fully infiltrate the Radio 1 playlist .
Surely the reason for not playlisting Adam's song would have been given to Adam's professional music pluggers.

Surely a slight remix to get songs on the playlist and be more accessible to the British music sound , if needed , could have been forthcoming.

A man with Adam's story and global profile , should be having his song played on Uk radio , and it was up to his management and team to ensure this happened .

The inaccuracies in this review are as startling.

Re-released? The song has never been released in this country before. The album of the same name was made available on import at the time of its release in the States and the UK version is available from 3 May.

Download available now? No, the download is not officially available until 26 April, the same as the physical copy. The track that some are downloading and hence why it has been in the top 100 for the past four weeks is as a single track from the import album.

Given this obvious slacking in doing basic homework, should the review be given the oxygen of attention? Perhaps not but for its humour – the unintentional part of which is funny even if the intentional parts are as amusing as a wisdom tooth extraction.

Womaniser? It may have escaped your notice that For Your Entertainment has more than three notes.

Also, what makes it OK for a lesser vocalist to sing this type of music but not a better one? Adam Lambert has nothing to prove on the vocal front. If anything, he comes in for more criticism whenever he showboats his ability so I don’t what a four-minute exhibition of vocal prowess would be expected to achieve for him.

The posters who noticed the similarity to Black & Gold would deserve bonus points if it weren’t for the fact that it is indeed a sample.

I’ve tended to find that very few Mika fans actually like Adam Lambert (hmmmm …….. can’t think why for the life of me ……..). Some people who would have liked Adam to go the rock route have said they are disappointed but Adam didn’t promise anything other than eclecticism and when you have the versatility he has, why shouldn’t you use it? Particularly as dance music is his personal preference.

This track was actually criticised by American radio for, among other things, “being too international in sound for an American Idol contestant’s debut”. Go figure as they would say. I was going to hesitate to mention the bemusing case of Radio 1's fascination with boy who is the epitome of everything Radio 1 tends to loathe yet whose records they bash out ad nauseum, and the pauper’s Delores O’Riordan meets the beggar's Jane Horrocks. As I said to Spirit, commercial radio is playing him though and many commercial radio stations are playing him quite a lot and with a lot of enthusiasm from the presenters and listeners. Of course, if the song is a hit, Radio 1 will not hesitate in saying that they told you so and not for the first time. Then Radio 1 wonder why they are constantly haemorrhaging listeners to the point that even their chart show – the official chart show – is no longer the most listened to.


Anyway, back to the topic, Radio 1 are missing a huge trick, not just with this song but with this artist.

At present . For Your Entertainment is not in the UK top 50 Radio airplay chart , so it is not being "fully " embraced by radio ,prior to it's release and not being heard by a large radio audience , which will obviously hamper it's chances of retail success.

Maybe , with your vast knowledge, you can share the reason why Radio 1 are yet to playlist the track ?

If the song is not in the top 50 airplay chart, it could have fooled me because I never fail to hear it on each journey on whatever commercial radio station covers the area I happen to be driving through.

Fraser , obviously the reason why , we have so many Adam Lambert fans here , is because a lot of them have been directed here to stress his strengths and "lobby" Radio 1 Messageboards to enhance the chances of getting "For Your Entertainment " onto the Radio 1 playlist .

As your name appears on the review , I am surmising some see you , under the Radio 1 umbrella , as part of the decision why Adam is not playlisted , , although you have stressed that you have no association with the Playlist Panel .

I am sure a lot of people here want to know why Adam isn't playlisted , but obviously that was up to the skills of his record company , song ,and the professional pluggers to get it there.
Because no one appears to know the exact reason why " For Your Entertainment " is not playlisted ,and indeed , if it will be playlisted, this has caused the "lobbying" to start.

Any ideas , why it is not playlisted ?

I don’t know where you get the idea that Adam’s album is aimed at the US market at all. It was never intended to. They were willing to forego Adam’s potential success in the US for the sake of his worldwide appeal that had become apparent during the contest itself. From the very start, the album was intended to have an “international” sound, whatever that is. The only “American” sounding tracks are Whataya Want From Me, Aftermath and Time for Miracles. The rest, if anything, sounds more British than most British artists these days.

What sort of “musical glow” is needed to infiltrate the Radio 1 playlist? Are we talking about the same playlist on the same station? Have you taken a look at the Radio 1 playlist lately? Most of what’s on there emits something but its more of a stench than a glow.

Indeed it is up to the people you mention to get songs played and they are told the reasons for not playlisting (I know of a band whose record company were given the reason by Radio 1 for not playlisting their single that it was “the most pop track on their album” ………… I don’t know when Radio 1 started thinking it was highbrow) but from information I have from reliable sources, the record company were more than willing to accept this song not being playlisted if it guaranteed that another song they were plugging would move up the playlists. It’s all part of the game.

geminiFraggleRock I was glad Sony UK pushed for For your Entertainment being the first single, I thought it was the perfect choice as an introduction, I think it's more European sounding than say Whataya want from Me which is too middle of the road for a first single in the UK and very American.

I also think Fever would be a great choice as a single but I can imagine it won't happen.

Surprised this song hasn't been playlisted be interested to know the reasons.

Most of the time , regarding the Radio 1 playlist , it is clear to me , why songs have A , B annd C playlists due to chart positions , appeal , target audience , style of music etc

However , in this instance , I would have have thought Adam would have gained a C list placing, for reasons previously covered.
For once , I am left to assume and surmise , but must admit given his story , visit to the UK and global profile , I am surprised he is not on it.

Is there a sinister "behind the scenes " reason for his omission?

Surely RCA records know , maybe you can lobby them ?

Phew, I'm tired just reading all this. Just to set the record straight, I don't mind Adam Lambert or his fans at all, you seem like passionate and interesting people. The term 'coachload' is one often used on threads like this, it's more a compliment to Lambert than an insult. The American question I asked was simply out of interest, to see if any Yanks ever read the ChartBlog, and to see the true extent of Lamberts UK fanbase. And I didn't accuse anyone if being aggressive but some of the mika fans on the 'Rain' thread.



Fraser, everybody knows Cornwall is not a real place. It's an extremely surreal place.

Here in NZ Lambert's album has gone Gold, and both the released singles, For Your Entertainment and Whatya Want From Me, are flying high in countdown radio and on our MTV stations. We don't have idolmania in NZ and we view Lambert as an independent artist. I was interested to read this review, as I had some preconceived ideas that the UK would be far more open to Lambert's transformative pop/rock eclecticism than the USA has been - but perhaps not. Claude Kelly has given Lambert a song that throws down a gauntlet to all the girls singing in the club; it's a song driven by and charged with male sexual energies. Could someone like Spears have done Kelly's song justice? No. Can't think of anyone else who could sing it, actually, and mean it the way Lambert does! LOL

Many had the misconceived idea that the UK would be far more open to Adam Lambert, his music, his persona and him generally but I don't know where this idea stemmed from. The UK in 2010 is very different to the UK in 1980 and not in a positive way.

This track will flop due to lack of airplay which is a shame as it’s a lot better than much of the tosh that spills out of radio these days and is much better sung than other songs in its genre.

Sadly the album that it’s from will probably flop too as a consequence.

The saddest thing is this song by any of several other artists would be all over Radio like a rash. It’s the artist they are having trouble embracing not the song. For all his talent, his persona doesn’t sit well with the station that likes people to think it’s rational and forward thinking.

Adam is doing very well elsewhere and I had hoped that he would do well in the UK.

ISLASANDS, we don’t exactly have American Idol mania here either. The show is watched by just over half a million people in the UK and last year figures neared 1 million. Radio 1 plays tracks by Leona Lewis, Lemar, Girls Aloud, Alexandra Burke, JLS, Diana Vickers, Kelly Clarkson, etc. It’s nothing to do with the “talent show” tag unfortunately.

I see your point but my comment about them being 'similar types of music' isn't that they're both pop song it's because they both come from the same area of slightly angry, dancey, synth pop tracks, Womanizer is a very good example of one of those tracks. It's similar to when people compare Vampire Weekend to Paul Simon, the comparison is because they do the same specific genre of music even if the songs are different.

P.S: I still think For Your Entertainment sounds like Womanizer.

I just got to jump back on here to vent. I have been listening to Radio1 for years now but am getting more and more disallusioned by their playlist choices. I listen all day at work but am seriously considering finding another radio station. I really love this song and would love to hear it on Radio1. I have been listening at work all day today and was astounded by some of the songs that were played. And in comparison I just can't believe that For Your Entertainment is not on the playlist, it would appear to be an ideal track for their demographic. Every day this frustrates me that I just had to come here and vent. Sorry to the regular posters if this is not the place for it! :)

Wasn't sure about this the first time I heard it, but after catching it a few times on some of the music channels it's definitely grown on me. Unlike the J. Bieber song, which gets progressively worse every time I hear it.

Surprised this apparently hasn't been picked up by Radio 1 (according to the comments here), but then my impression recently (maybe wrongly) is that the playlist is a lot smaller than it used to be? Or is it just my bad luck I always seem to hear the same handful of tracks played when I'm listening!

I can’t hear any similarity to “Womaniser”, not least because “For Your Entertainment” is actually a song with a tune and is actually sung.

The thing with Radio 1 and this song is that it’s nothing to do with the song itself. The song is typical Radio 1 and chart fodder. It’s to do with Adam Lambert. Radio 1 is so far up its own that it’s in danger of having to treat itself with Anusol. It sees itself no longer as BBC radio’s light entertainment offering, and hasn’t for over a decade, but as a serious station for serious musicians making serious music. Adam’s mantra of “Don’t’ take me too seriously” doesn’t fit in with that.

I’m in a position to be able to say that Radio 1 receives many requests for this song. Not spamming, not from the same people or same addresses but simply many genuine requests. All to little avail. The song has been played once on Radio 1.

Unfortunately I have to say that perhaps Marie1991 has a point and the song and album will flop here as a result. Adam has a lot of fans in this country and it is they who noticed him before those in other countries did and who genuinely felt that this is where his greatest success would come. I get the feeling Adam himself did as he is such a fan of British music but he has shamefully failed to get the support of the British media (apart from the printed media) in a way that during and after American Idol seemed to be a given and the full blame for this has to go not to the media, much of which was very supportive of him during the contest (particularly the television media) but to those responsible for his promotion.

It is unfortunate that his record company has decided to concentrate most of its efforts on a girl who has no chance outside of the UK for a multitude of reasons but good luck to them and her. Hopefully once his contract is up, Adam will move away from the record company that has betrayed him in the UK.

Have no fear, I'm not a passenger on the adam fan bus, been wanting to comment here for a while.
Honestly, I do like the song and think adam is a huge talent.
But honestly, with this song I feel he may being trying too hard to be shocking and "in your face".
I believe he should have released 'whataya want from me' or 'fever' first, just to ease himself in first,
Instead of diving straight in with the shocktastics.
Take gaga for example, what would have happened is she barged straight in and released lovegame as her debut?

I'm not really in the mood for some massive debate with Adam Lambert fans. I guess mainly because I do actually believe in a good bit of what they are saying. Despite my earlier comment @35.. I've stated in the past (somewhere on the Rybak review) of my excitement for his up and coming stuff.

It's a shame I just really don't dig this track.

I also agree that he is a competent and interesting enough artist to warrent getting played on Radio1!

But what you guys all need to ask is, is that completely Radio1's fault? I don't know the playlist selection process (other than there's a weekly meeting with people such as Aled from the Chris Moyles show, where they decide it), but there's no garuntee that actually there's a reason this isn't play listed. It must be up to the record labels to a certain degree, to get their songs playlisted. Maybe there has been no effort made to platlist it.

It also seems that artists that put in face time in on the Radio1 get play listed. Maybe Radio1 has invited Adam over and got snubbed? I'm completely ignorant, is Adam coming over to the UK? If he's not coming over here at all, I'd also question whether he should be play listed.

Hope the album is better than this track.

Fever is hardly likely to be released as a single anywhere because it is the one song that is not lyrically neutral so would be seen as exactly what you are suggesting the rather unshocking For Your Entertainment is.

As I said, RCA haven't exactly busted a gut pushing for this song to be playlisted or subsequently for spins to be increased on stations where it has been playlisted. However, that doesn't include not trying to book Adam for interviews on Radio 1 when he carried out his radio tour in March and now that he is back in the UK for live performances, TV, further radio promos over the few days but Radio 1 has declined the offer on both occasions.

First can I say although I have just joined up and this is my first post I do regularly read the posts on this board, I find many of the contributers usually quite fair and knowledgable and it makes it good to read.

Why post now? Am I an Adam Lambert fan? - Yes. Am I a Lambrit or Glambert or any other name some of his fan groups call themselves? - No. Adam, like many other popstars does have his share of lets say "over invested" fans, but in general they are not malicious, just very protective.

From my own point of view I respect Adam as an artist and a person. He is not your average Reality TV performer. At 28 years old he has spent many years trying to get a break in the industry. Considering his talent that is unbelievable. Then again many people in the USA are less tolerant to his prefernces than we in the UK claim we are.

I am amazed that Radio 1 have not picked up this song, it is by no means the best song on his album, but it is radio friendly and much better than half of the tracks they currently have playlisted.

Radio 1 don't seem to have any problems showcasing other, less talented Reality TV people like Diana Vickers and JLS, so I would be interested to know what their problem is with Adam Lambert.

I just hope that all Adam's fans buy the single and remixes as soon as it comes out and when the playlist people see the midweeks they may relent.

Too many long comments to really read in detail, but did someone really go the Lambrits site purely to read comments to post here, do us Adam Lambert fans have that much affect on other people?

What is wrong with supporting an artist will exceptional talent.

Would love to know why not on radio 1 playlist, This is a brilliant song to play, loud with roof off/windows down etc, cant stop dancing whenever I hear it. Puts people in a happy mood.

I personally cannot see what radio stations have against fans being organised, this is the age of mass communications, people can find each other so easily through forums and communicate through twitter ect. to flag up articles and opportunities to make our views known.
The problem comes when people are made to feel that this is forbidden, and therefore feel the need to post covertly in an attempt to disassociate themselves from the fangroup in the belief that they won't be taken seriously. I have on several occasions had strangers on Twitter and other places try to stop me from requesting Adams music by misinformation that people are Spamming and putting off TV and radio stations from booking him which is not the case. I have had to block people for this reason.
I am also a Lambrit and was a co-driver of the bus via the Lambrits Twitter and proud to be so. When was it ever a crime to rally friends to help in a shared cause?

err... we dont work at the radio station (although we have contemplated it and it would make Radio 1 truly amazing) and we dont have anything against fans being passionate. At all.

However, i thought Curtains' work was very clever, and i personally find it funny how you organise a plan of attack to win round five of us ChartBloggers. But credit where credits due, i cant doubt your passion. 80 comments in a day is definitely an achievement, i certainly didnt see it coming.

@bloggingliam and Geminifragglerock, Apparently since the delay to Adams visit caused by that Volcano, things seem to have changed slightly and Adams new schedule includes more BBC Promo, and a slot on the 5.19 show.
He did arrive today this afternoon, and has been recording interviews all afternoon and evening, Jetlag and all.

Myself and many of the other Chartbloggers are here for lively and entertaining debate about music. If you feel you have an opinion to throw in, please do. We love it. Honestly. I sometimes even post deliberately controversial things just to watch Spirit explode.

Now, realistically, you cannot expect us to not have a little giggle every time it is obvious that a group of you come over here to post how much you love an artist and that the reviewer is clearly wrong. It is amusing for us regular readers. I know that now 90% of you will probably never post again. Please feel free to prove me wrong, a growing community is what we want.

The more people that read this Blog and post on it, the better for the Blog. Even if you disagree with the reviewer! I myself often to. As long as you post without being complete idiots, which I'd comment most of you on doing, it's great. Normally at least half the posts by fanbois are deleted, because they are simply offensive. So I commend you guys on not posting as so.

The more traffic the blog gets, the more status it gets and the longer it keeps going. The blog is consitantly in the top 2 on Radio1, let's keep it that way.

magsmagenta none of the posters on here work at the Radio station, to my knowledge, apart from the reviewer, Fraser McAlpine who's posts you can see in grey. Reggie posts every now and then, but we can pretend that never happens.

So not only are the radio station not against mass fan bases, neither are we. We just find it funny.

The reason I stayed with the Lambrits was I found it to be the friendliest and most efficiently run of all the Adam Lambert fansites and believe me there are many. As far as I can see, if an artist has fans willing to give their time free of charge to an organised campaign, surely that is a sign that the artist has commercial potential. And as for advertising the fansite, I was merely trying to be friendly.

Sounds like a bit of mutual advertising here for Lambrits website and this blog. Will it help sell Adam Lambert's single tho'?

Song is catchy and dancey. And has been mentioned it grows on you/me. Plenty of stuff that sounds like other stuff seems to sell well. I agree there is a bit of a Britney feel but having checked out some of his other stuff the dude can sing. May be interesting to see how far it gets without Radio 1, and how quickly they pick it up if it does well. Watch this space.

Re: playlists - like a lot of people, I'm sure, I make up my own ear-candy. Both commercial and Radio 1 seem to have pretty limited lists.

well I thought about it..quite a lot and I Know He is A Genius. I feel that Radio One needs to play his music. Adam Lambert. The man himself is an amazing charismatic performer and singer. And that is Why he has so many dedicated fans. It is important to listen to the whole album For Your Entertainment when it is available as it is one of the best albums you could wish to have in your record collection. But dont take my word for it. go listen....:)

The writing credits for the album are impressive, but Lambert doesn't feature much himself. A shame in my opinion.

Came back to read further comments and have to say what a pleasure it is to read commentary that doesn't mindlessly vilify or adulate Lambert - or slam fellow commentators. Lambert has been so polarizing in the States that it is nigh on impossible to find articles that talk about his album and not his sexual orientation, "theatricality" and use of make-up etc.

So either you guys are great at moderating comments or people are actually interested in music.

I think the album is well worth a listen, as much because there is something very fresh about its unapologetic defiance of genre packaging,- as for the very real merit of some of the songs. Lambert had 3 months to get this "post-idol" album out, and has said that it is by no means his definitive album. I personally prefer the songs he penned or co-penned and am hopeful that his next album will give him opportunity to step forward in the spotlight of his own vision as an artist.

As some on this board have noted, Lambert has an ever growing and unusually devoted fan base, the majority of whom are not idol afficionados. His fandom's age demograph defies the ageism of pop-culture, its gender bias - predominantly heterosexual female - defies sexual orientation stereotypes, and its ferocious loyalty embraces far more of the social and political than generally attends "pop hero" status.

All in all, Lambert's music, personality, stage presentation and artistic visions are rather more fascinating than the flibberty-gibbet, autotuned and robot-voxed drivel that passes for talent on the pop charts today. I'm definitely watching his space.
