Five Minutes With Justin Bieber
You only have to look at Dev's pictures of the carnage outside Radio 1 towers when Justin Bieber came for a quick visit this week to realise that there is a LOT of pressure on his young shoulders at the moment. His album - which was split into two halves in order to satisfy demand - finally came out this week, and in order to promote it, he's been everywhere from GMTV to Radio 1 to...well, here.
That's right, GMTV. Justin, a teenager, got up before noon, voluntarily. The man's a miracle, I tell you.
Here's what happened when I grabbed a very quick phone call with him:

ChartBlog: Hi Justin, how're you doing?
Justin: What's going on?
ChartBlog: I'm very well, thank you. Where are you right now, in London?
Justin: Um, I don't know.
ChartBlog: You're in England, are you?
Justin: Yep.
ChartBlog: Good. We've got the right country then. Is the schedule a bit confusing at the moment?
Justin: Nothing is confusing. But I'm just having fun with it.
ChartBlog: Can you tell me why the album is split into two parts - 'My World' and 'My Worlds'?
Justin: The album came out in two parts because, y'know, a lot of people have the internet nowadays, and people get really bored and I didn't want to have to release an album now and release another album in a year or a year-and-a-half. So, y'know, I wanted to give them a little more.
ChartBlog: How much of the whole album was ready to go? Did you get to nine songs and then go "GET IT OUT THERE!" and then start it again?
Justin: Basically I wanted to split it up into two parts. I was basically like "let me just do this many songs now, get 'em out there", and then later do some more songs and get those out there. A few songs off ['My Worlds'] were done a year ago.
ChartBlog: And does each half have any theme to it, any reason why certain songs are together?
Justin: They're basically just songs about girls and teen relationships and stuff. Just stuff that is in my world, stuff that happens in our...in my world.
ChartBlog: So there's no difference between part one and part two?
Justin: There is, there's a little difference. Some of the stuff on the second part is a little newer and stuff, but they're still along the same lines.
ChartBlog: As someone who is so young, coming into the music world, who are you looking to as a role model for where you want to take this?
Justin: Um, I definitely want to be along the lines of an Usher or Justin Timberlake, and how Justin Timberlake wanted to do more acting. I definitely wanna go that route as well.
ChartBlog: So you want to be the all-round entertainer?
Justin: Yessir.
ChartBlog: Are you at all worried about the way your voice will change over time? Are you deliberately making the most of the way it is right now?
Justin: No it's a natural thing. Your voice is going to change when you get to certain age and you've just got to deal with it. I have the best vocal coach in the whole of America that is coaching me through my voice changing and stuff. It's not going to be a problem. You see Michael Jackson, you see Boys II Men, you see Usher, you see Justin Timberlake, it's not like they fell when they reached a certain age.
ChartBlog: True, but they all continued to sing in quite a high pitch. Do you think you're going to be a high pitched adult, or is there a possibility that you'll suddenly sound like Barry White?
Justin: [unimpressed] Man I'm not going to sound like Barry White.
ChartBlog: That's what your vocal coach has told you?
Justin: Yeah.
ChartBlog: Am I allowed to ask you about Lily Allen?
Justin: [reassuringly] I don't care!
ChartBlog: So there's been a scuffle online. Your fans are attacking her for making a joke about you...
Justin: I don't know...I mean my fans are supportive, I don't know what happened. I didn't even know who Lily Allen was before today. I didn't know what was going on.
ChartBlog: Has this sort of thing happened before? Are your fans scary?
Justin: My fans are awesome, they back me up no matter what.
ChartBlog: So if I'd reviewed your single and said it wasn't very good, I could expect some pretty stiff complaints.
Justin: [laughs] Maybe!
ChartBlog: So, you're flying all over the world, working all the time, do you get any time to relax?
Justin: Um, not really!
ChartBlog: Do you bring stuff with you just in case, like a skateboard?
Justin: My road-manager left my skateboard behind, so I can't ride that. I'd love to be riding it right now.
ChartBlog: Or doing anything other than answering the same questions again and again...
Justin: No man, I love it. I love to be able to tell the world what's going on.
ChartBlog: What do you want to tell the world today, Justin?
Justin: I want to tell the world that they're amazing. You guys are so supportive of everything that I'm doing, and, just thank you so much!

Bieber is a product of the industry he is in. Obviously being completely exploited by some record company to make awful, yet catchy music, that will sell to people under the age of 16. I don't blame the kid himself, as I said, it's his record company. They obviously don't care about the quality of the music.
They obviously do care about the quantity of the music. Or rather, the quantity of money it will rake in. 2 albums = 2 lots of money.
