Wiley - 'Wearing My Rolex'
They said he's afraid of foxes. They said he'd had such a major falling out with Dizzee Rascal that Diz wrote the ultra-damning 'Pussyole' about him. They also say that he's been a bit left behind in the race to take grime into the mainstream by Kano, Dizzee...even Lethal Bizzle. They say a lot of things about Wiley, he's that kind of person. But even if any of these things are true, they're nothing compared to the kind of things people are going to say once this song is a hit.
Things I Say About This Song:
Thing 1: If I were Wiley, I would've avoided the video too. Not because I'm afraid of foxes. But because these girls look like rejects from the Foxy Bingo ad. I mean they're not supposed to be classy, what with eating out of the bins and all but still, every time I watch the video I'm thinking "we are family..."
Thing 2: I like how the synths appear to be drunk. Portamento rules!
Thing 3: There's been enough songs about girls who set out to make men give over their hard-earned cash money because they are gold-diggers, surely? Kanye nailed it. We can all move on now.
Thing 4: Having said that, it's nice that at least some of the emphasis in this song is on Wiley himself, and how he just gets carried away in the heat of the moment. That's a new twist. It's the difference between calling Heather Mills names for taking Paul McCartney's money, and calling Heather Mills names for taking his money AND calling him names for being foolish enough to go along with it.
Thing 5: I guess if I suggest that this has the sound of Hadouken! to it, I'm only exposing how little I know about who did what first in the grime pecking order, right? OK, I'll keep that thought to myself.

If only there was some kind of online facility where you could look these sort of things up. Somewhere you could type in a couple of key words, like "Wiley", "sample", and "wearing my rolex", and then get an answer back almost immediately.

For a rap song (well a song with rap in) its not hideously sexist and rude (btw I know some rap is great and this is a sweeping statement).
Also much fun was had figuring out what wiley says my mate was adamant it was bubble not babble!
Which would have brought a whole new meaning to the song, wiley in a club making bubbles
