Round up: Friday 2 October 2009
The week started with The Telegraph reporting that the BBC were working on a Facebook version of iPlayer and the BBC issuing a statement denying it.
The BBC also went on to deny a number of other reports including one in The Guardian (or "other newspapers" as The Telegraph calls it) saying that the BBC is planning a radical relaunch of its website to include more social media. The correction featured on The Telegraph and on the Journalism.co.uk blog.
You can hear some of what the BBC is actually doing in this Paidcontent interview with the Beeb's Anthony Rose.
The Guardian marked the launch of the BBC's Wildlife Finder by calling it the "world's biggest online zoo".
Times Online Labs produced a mash-up of data from the BBC's Annual Report but are asking for your help:
"We'd welcome any suggestions to meaningfully integrate data about BBC online. The main statistic the BBC makes available is that its website averages 27.2m unique UK users a week."
But the really big news this week is the long-awaited arrival of Desert Island Discs on the iPlayer. You've got two days left to hear the great Mr Barry Manilow's selections.
