Abstract

SAQAS - Spatial Audio Quality Assessment Scenes

A library of sound scenes for evaluation of object-based spatial audio systems.

This dataset was presented in the paper "A Library of Binaural Room Impulse Responses and Sound Scenes for Evaluation of Spatial Audio Systems", which was presented at the conference DAGA 2014 in Oldenburg, Germany. The paper is available from here.

The scenes are stored as Broadcast Wave Format (BWF) files. The Audio Definition Model is used to represent the dynamic 3D scene meta-data in an object-based audio format, this is stored in the axml chunk of the BWF files.

The aim is to develop these towards a complete library of test scenes to evaluate reproduction systems, codecs and rendering systems for object-based 3D audio. This includes different scenes in an object-based representation and their rendition into five channels. The library is open for further contributions of critical material.

For software that allows the handling of ADM based BWF files, see here.
