Sigrid Rausing is founder of the Sigrid Rausing Trust and is owner of both Granta magazine and Granta Books. Her trust has distributed nearly £200 million to human rights organisations around the world. After completing a PhD in anthropology, she set up her first charity, the Sea Foundation, in 1988. She established her own charitable trust in 1995. She founded Portobello Books with her husband in 2005, and went on to acquire Granta later the same year.
She is an honorary fellow of the London School of Economics and an emeritus member of the international board of Human Rights Watch. She won the Beacon Fellowship award for philanthropic work in 2005.
