Rachel Whetstone is senior Vice President of Communications and Public Policy for Google. She and her husband Steve Hilton, until 2012 chief strategy advisor to David Cameron, have been called the Tory power couple.

After studying politics at the University of Bristol she joined Conservative Central Office. She moved to the private sector working for Carlton Communications and Portland, a PR agency she co-founded. She returned to politics in 2003, serving as Michael Howard’s chief of staff following his election to leadership of the Conservative Party. She joined Google as Head of Communications and Public Affairs in 2005.
