Colette Bowe was appointed to the board of Ofcom, the communications regulator, in January 2008, before becoming chair in March 2009.

She trained as an economist, and began her career at the Department of Trade and Industry in 1975, where she was chief information officer for to Leon Brittan. She moved on to the Independent Broadcasting Authority and to a range of City bodies. She was the founding chair of Ofcom’s Consumer Panel from 2003-2007. She is a Visiting Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford.
