"Profit without purpose is a recipe for disaster. Profit must be our servant, not our master"
Elisabeth Murdoch

She sold Shine to News Corporation in 2011 for £415 million but remains chairman, reporting £507 million revenues in 2012. She decided not to take up a seat on the Board of News Corp shortly before delivering the 2012 MacTaggart Lecture, which many saw as a critical of her brother, James Murdoch of News International. She sits on the Board of Directors of the UK Film Council and is a trustee of the Tate.
