Maria Miller was appointed Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport in September 2012. She joined the cabinet in September 2012 and has been in the spotlight since the publication of Part one of the Leveson Report. Her role will keep her in the public eye when Part 2 is published in 2013.

Before entering Parliament, she had a successful career in advertising and marketing, and was director of Grey Advertising and Rowland Saatchi. She has defended the Tories, against accusations of snobbery, citing her state-school education and working-class background as proof of the diversity within the Party.
