Lorna Hood was named Moderator elect of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 2012. She began her career as a probationer assistant in St Ninian’s Corstorphine Church, Edinburgh, and was ordained there in 1978. For over twenty years she served as Chaplain in the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, where she pioneered the pastoral care of women who had suffered miscarriages or lost babies.
In 2010 she became one of ten Chaplains to The Queen in Scotland. She has been a General Trustee of the Church of Scotland since 2001.
