Why designer outlet villages are booming
While the traditional high street has struggled since the crash, designer outlet villages like the ones in Bicester, Ashford, Swindon and Ellesmere Port have been booming. The idea is a simple one: sell luxury designer products at sale prices. Last year shoppers spent £2.6 billion in outlet villages, that was 2% of all spending on anything other than food. Kevin Mosely reports.
