About Nitin:

One of the most versatile musical voices around today, Nitin Sawhney has scored for and performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras, and collaborated with and written for the likes of Paul McCartney, Sting, The London Symphony Orchestra, A.R. Rahman, Brian Eno, Sinead O’Connor, Anoushka Shankar, Jeff Beck, Shakira, Will Young, Joss Stone, Taio Cruz, Ellie Goulding, Horace Andy, Cirque Du Soleil, Akram Khan, Deepa Mehta, Mira Nair, Nelson Mandela and John Hurt.

Nitin is the recipient of 7 honorary doctorates from British universities and has acted as patron of the British Government’s Access-to-music programme, the East London Film festival and, currently, Artis, as well as acting as a judge for The Ivor Novello Awards, BAFTA, and the PRS foundation.

He has received 17 major international awards, has released 10 studio albums and has scored over fifty films. Nitin has also written for television including the BBC’s ‘Wonders of the Monsoon’ and ‘The Human Planet’ – which won a BAFTA.

Nitin Sawhney also writes for computer games, has performed at venues and major festivals across the world and has scored several award winning theatre productions including Complicite’s Olivier winning ‘A Disappearing Number’. He also acts, writes and directs and has been a regular commentator on BBC’s Newsnight Review, Newsnight and Hard Talk.

‘Nitin Sawhney Spins the Globe’ was Sawhney’s BBC R2 show running for four consecutive years and Sawhney appeared as a regular industry expert in the acclaimed TV series, ‘Guitar Star’ for Sky Arts in 2015.
