BBC Sound Of 2016: 7 Introducing stories

With the BBC Sound Of 2016 longlist unveiled we're delighted that no less than seven of the acts have previously shared their music on the Introducing Uploader and have gone on to shine on one of our festival stages. She's just 16 years old and has already performed on the Introducing stage at Reading & Leeds, as well as recording a Radio 1 session for Huw Stephens and featuring on Jo Whiley's Radio 2 show. A songwriter set to soar, watch this space.

Psych-indie sons of Stockport who have already gained fans at both Radio 1 and 6 Music, after first uploading their music to the Introducing Uploader back in 2014. A band with real sonic character who are destined for big things.

FRANCES

A simply sublime talent combining little more than a piano and stunning voice. Her performance at Maida Vale for Radio 2's special BBC Music Introducing event showcased her incredible potential.

Izzy Bizu
Supported by BBC Introducing in London
From instant, sweet pop to smooth soul, South London based Izzy Bizu has already shone on the Introducing stage at Glastonbury and in session at Maida Vale. Her Brits Critics' Choice nomination was another indicator of the bright future in store.

JACK GARRATT

His ridiculously brilliant live show has seen Jack win over crowds on the Introducing stage at Reading & Leeds and in Austin for SXSW. And then when we were all but convinced he was set for big things he popped down to Maida Vale to put the icing on the cake. 2016 will see him step out and become one of the brightest stars in music.

LOYLE CARNER
Supported by BBC Introducing in London
A South London rapper with a difference. After getting his music on the Uploader he found himself on the Introducing stage at Glastonbury, winning over a host of new fans in the process. Since then he's turned the heads of Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart at Radio 1. Keep an ear out for his smart, soulful music in 2016.

NAO

Inspired by neo soul and electronica NAO made her debut with the brilliant 2014 track 'Back Porch', which was supported by BBC Introducing in London. Her incredible performance on the Introducing stage at Glastonbury cemented her reputation as a star in the making.
