How does Frank Sinatra: Our Way work?

How did you promote the talent search?

We advertised through the BBC, press and targeted advertising to sites like The Stage. The production team also researched acts and made them aware of the applications process. All applications were reviewed and all treated equally.

What were the entry criteria?

Applicants had to be over 16 on August 1st 2014, resident in the UK and not be professional Frank Sinatra impersonators.

What was the application process and how did you select them?

All applicants had to fill in an application form and submit a video. They were then all reviewed by the production team. Shortlisted candidates were then invited to attend face to face auditions in front of the producer and musical director. After this, the final seven acts for the TV show were chosen by the producer and the BBC.

How were the Jury selected?

The jury was made up of 11 music industry professionals that represented a wide range of regions, ages, diversity and musical backgrounds. They were selected by the producers.

What was the judging criteria?

The jury were asked to judge based on vocal ability and performance. They were asked not to take into account staging, arrangement, song choice or likeness to Frank Sinatra.

How did they decide the winner?

The jury had to rank the acts in order of preference and the act with the most votes in first place was the winner. If there was a tie lower place votes would also be counted until an outright winner was found. The votes were then counted and verified by an independent verifier.

Who were the celebrity experts and what was their role?

The celebrity experts were Dave Stewart, Mica Paris, Rufus Hound and Leo Green. They were not there to judge, but they were made aware of the judging criteria. The panel were there to make comments about each performance and give constructive feedback and criticism to each competitor.

What is the prize?

The winner will get to perform at a Sinatra centenary concert scheduled to take place at the Eventim Apollo in December 2015.
