5 LA locations that helped make Meghan Markle

There has never been a member of the Royal Family quite like Meghan Markle.
The 36-year-old is a successful actress, who is leaving her role on the show Suits to marry Prince Harry.
She grew up in Los Angeles and returned to the city after University to launch her acting career.
Meghan's parents divorced when she was young, and there are questions over whether her father will even be at the wedding.
BBC Radio 5 live's Anna Foster visited some of the places in LA which helped make Meghan the person she is today.
1. Immaculate Heart High School

Immaculate Heart is one of only two schools to have their graduation ceremonies at the famous Hollywood Bowl - on the stage once graced by The Beatles, Monty Python and Louis Armstrong.
Meghan was part of the class of 1999. Her picture is still on the wall in one of the upstairs corridors. Any of the pupils can pick it out for you, though they'd be forgiven for getting a little tired of all the media attention.
If Meghan ever did get into trouble at school, her teachers are not about to spill the beans.

Christine Knudsen taught Meghan and said she was one of the rare students who liked to sit at the front of class.
"She was kind, she was generous," said Mrs Knudsen, who took Meghan on a retreat when she was a senior. "She never asked for special attention, she was just a complete team player.
"Next year is Meghan's 20th reunion. She's always welcome, we would love to see her. We're very proud of her."

Another teacher, Maria Pollia, said Meghan was ready for royalty.
"It will not be an easy life. This idea that it's very glamorous - it does have that aspect but it's also hard work. She will have to give up a lot of things that she was used to doing very casually.
"There have been some characterizations that she's going to shake up Buckingham Palace and that's really not her character. She is a person who does live according to her own lights, but she's extremely respectful and open to the good that is there."
2. Rose Tree Cottage

You can find this shop and tea rooms in Pasadena, and it's more British than Britain itself.
There are cardboard cut-outs by the door - one of Meghan and Harry, another of Kate and William.

You might have read that Rose Tree Cottage is where Meghan learned how to have tea with the Queen.
That may be pushing it a bit, but owner Edmund Fry said she has definitely visited a couple of times and will surely have picked up some etiquette tips.
"She was very beautiful, she held herself wonderfully," said Edmund, perhaps still hoping for a wedding invite.
"She was very relaxed and seemed a wonderful person."

Of course there will be a special luncheon on the wedding day, and 'souvenir giftware items' are being offered to mark the occasion.
3. Humphrey Yogart

The brilliantly named Humphrey Yogart is something of an LA institution, run by Paula and Jim Sheftel for more than 20 years.
Customers choose from four yogurts and then pick from 45 blend-ins, everything from coconut to pumpkin, peanut butter to green tea.
Meghan is said to have worked here as a teenager.
Jim Sheftel admitted he couldn't remember her among the hundreds of people who've whipped up frozen yoghurt over the years, but he said she couldn't have been afraid of putting a shift in.
"We had lines out of the door back then - it was sometimes an hour to 90 minutes wait to get frozen yoghurt on a Friday or Saturday night. She would have worked extraordinarily hard!"
4. ABC Studios

Meghan got her first taste of show business at ABC Studios, where her dad worked as a lighting director on shows like 'Married... with Children'.
She returned to LA after university and joined the thousands of young actors hoping to make it big in Tinseltown.
Back in 2008, long before Meghan got her big break in Suits, she appeared in a pilot for a show called The Apostles.

5. The Cat & Fiddle
When Meghan ran for class president, her slogan was 'Meghan Markle - make it sparkle'.
That's according to Ashlee Gardner, who was in the year below, and now runs the Cat & Fiddle pub in Hollywood. She says Meghan has partied here a few times.
They are hosting a late night wedding viewing party, but because it will be at 4am, they won't be allowed to serve alcohol.

Try their mocktail instead - the Markle Sparkle.
