Every way Shawn Mendes made us physically melt during his Live Lounge session

Shawn Mendes has left the building and we miss him already.

We usually manage to keep our cool when it comes to Live Lounge guests, but this is the actual Shawn Mendes we're talking about here.

We melted several times during his visit to Radio 1 to perform a Live Lounge session. Here's how he did it.

When he held his coffee cup exactly how we want to be held

It's bad to rummage through the bins, right?

He politely explained why he wouldn't be duetting with Rita Ora

What’s going on with Shawn Mendes and Rita Ora?

Gossip of a possible collaboration? Grimmy talks to Shawn to find out...

Shawn made us picture him all alone in the middle of the night

"It's like a blessing and a curse," he says about his songwriting. "So at 3am in the morning and it comes, you've got to write it."

Those pipes. Shawn, you're killing us here

Shawn gave us career-envy with how good he is at his job

"Treat You Better was written in an hour or two hours," he says. "The best songs come so quick when you're inspired. I was in LA, I wrote four songs from the album in four days and they were all some of my favourites."

Sometimes we can get through a whole week and not remember a single thing we've done.

And crazy fans? He can see straight through it

"Even staff at hotels who are fans bring me water when I haven't asked for water and they're like 'oh - by the way can I get a signature for my niece'," he says. "It's sweet, but I never asked for water."

When we thought we couldn't love him any more, he said he was nervous about covering Drake

"This is just as nerve wracking," he said when Clara asked him about performing in the Live Lounge compared with performing on Vine.

"This is the hardest thing, but it should be fun today. Trying my best not to mess up the Drake lyrics."
