The One Show Summer Art Competition: The shortlisted artists

Viewers of The One Show have been sending in their artwork for this year's Summer Art Competition, and 24 artists will soon have their creations on display at the Royal Academy of Arts, London.

The One Show Summer Art Competition 2014 was open to amateur artists living in the UK and split in two age categories: 13–17 years old and 18 and over.

From over 1,100 submissions, a selection of 24 shortlisted works will go on display in the Reynolds Room at the RA from 17th June to 9th August. Entrance is free and for more information on opening times visit the Royal Academy website.

Six finalists have been set a new task of creating a new work from scratch. The two category winners will be revealed on The One Show in July, and the two winning works will also be on display at the RA.

A panel, including Michael Landy RA, Edith Devaney, Head of Summer Exhibition, Royal Academy of Arts, Nick Grimshaw, BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show host, the actress Maureen Lipman, and broadcaster Andrew Marr judged twelve shortlisted entries from each category, which you can see in the gallery above.
