Billy Connolly murals in Glasgow – the city’s birthday gift to the Big Yin at 75

8 June 2017

Few people around the world will receive a 75th birthday present of three 50-foot murals of themselves around their home city, but that huge honour has been bestowed upon Glasgow-born performer, Billy Connolly.

Three Billy Connolly portraits by artists Jack Vettriano, John Byrne and Rachel Maclean were unveiled as part of The Big Yin’s birthday celebrations this year.

And now the portraits, which were created in secret by the artists Rogue-one and Art Pistol working with Billy Connolly over a period of months, have been recreated on walls around Glasgow to become part of the city’s official mural trail.
