Food is proving to be significant economic and social force in other parts of Scotland too.

In Edinburgh restaurants Home and Social Bite donate profits to the homeless, as well as providing training and employment.

But it’s not just in Scotland’s cities that the economic power of food is being felt.

Seaweed, for example, is currently a trendy food that is hailed as nutrient-rich snack.

Scots has been exporting record levels of wild Scottish seaweed to Europe and Asia and there have even been trials near Oban to exploit the huge potential of a farmed industry.
