Miley Cyrus: I want to celebrate change, it has become a derogatory thing

Miley Cyrus says she wants to celebrate every change in her life, despite many people considering change to be a negative thing.
She returns to the Radio 1 playlist this week with her new single Malibu, and it sounds nothing like previous hits such as Party In The USA, We Can't Stop or Wrecking Ball.
"Every time I make music, I feel like I’m in a different space," she told Nick Grimshaw when she phoned for a chat on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.
"That's because there's time in between every record and time brings change and hopefully a sense me being evolved.

"I always want people to celebrate my change, change has come to be a derogatory thing - 'he's changed, she's changed' and I think it's great when people change," she said.

"I hope I do all the time and I hope it means I’m into new things and hopefully by the end of my life I’ll have had a little taste of everything.
"Not just in my career but in my listening experience as an artist I hope as a listener I’ve got to listen to every type of music this planet has to offer me."
She also said that, despite years of experience in the pop world, returning with a new sound has made her nervous for the first time in her career.
"I feel nervous and I never have before at any time in my life but I guess it's because I care so much," she said.

Miley wrote her new single about her life in Malibu and swapping living in the country for a home by the ocean.
"I hope that people who are listening to this, no matter where they are, I hope people feel like they are by the beach at that moment when they hear that song," she said.
"I wanted people to feel free, I wanted people to feel love and I wanted people to feel like they were a part of my life."
