1Xtra's Street Studio is coming to your town: get ready to bring the fire with these crucial MC tips
Charlie Sloth, Sian Anderson, Target and Seani B are hitting the streets to search for up-and-coming talent in MC Month.
We asked 1Xtra's DJs to give their best advice for MCs coming to the booth.
Charlie Sloth: "I want to hear something original – something I’ve never heard before."

So you walk up to Charlie Sloth at the street studio? You've got a shot at impressing a 1Xtra DJ but what does he want to hear?
Charlie said "I want to hear something original – something I’ve never heard before. I wanna hear someone using their own accent and not being afraid to use their local slang”
"The internet is god."
We asked Charlie what a young MC should do to get themself out there; Charlie reckons there are endless opportunities online-
Never give me a CD of your music that doesn’t have your contact details on it.
“Consistency is king. The internet is god. And it doesn’t cost you a penny to promote yourself online”
And what about IRL promo? What should you do if you bump into the Sloth?
“Never try to freestyle in my ear. Never tell me that your CD is the best CD out there – let me be the judge of that. Never give me a CD of your music that doesn’t have your contact details on it”
DJ Target: "Your music needs to relate and connect with the audience you're trying to reach."

Target's advice for young MC's is to build your fanbase:
Make sure you know the plan for your music & know where you want to go with it
"Your music needs to relate and connect with the audience you're trying to reach if you want it to get heard"
"Before you approach people make sure you know the plan for your music & know where you want to go with it"
