The man who got dumped just before his honeymoon
Jetting off to the Caribbean

- John Whitbread has too many tickets for his honeymoon.
- John Whitbread doesn't have a ticket for his honeymoon.
Read the text and complete the activity

Imagine you are about to get married to the person you love and then set off for a romantic honeymoon. Now, imagine that your boyfriend or girlfriend dumped you just before you were planning to go away. What would you do? Well, this actually happened to John Whitbread from Leicestershire in the UK. He was left with an extra ticket to the Dominican Republic after he split up with his girlfriend six weeks before they were going to get married.
John Whitbread originally planned to get married on Valentine's Day but this changed when the couple ended their relationship over Christmas. Mr Whitbread had worked non-stop to pay for the cost of the trip, which came to just under £2,000. He went to the travel agent to see if he could get back any of the money that he had spent on the trip, but they only offered him a refund for half of the money.
So, John was left with a spare ticket for a trip to the Dominican Republic.
So, what's the problem?
Did you get it? John Whitbread has too many tickets to go to the Caribbean - he has an extra ticket because his girlfriend isn't coming.
