David Fitzgerald to join Radio Devon

Radio and television personality David Fitzgerald is joining BBC Radio Devon.

David, or Fitz as he is better known, will first be on-air on Bank Holiday Monday, 7 May, when he sits in for Judi Spiers.

From 12 May, he'll also be presenting on Saturday mornings between 9am and noon and promises the programme may never be the same again.

David started work in local radio in 1980 at Devonair and has also worked for County Sound in Guildford, Invicta Radio in Kent, TSW, Anglia Television, Sky News, Carlton Television, and most recently South Hams Radio.

He also writes for the Northcliffe Group of newspapers and magazines and has a regular column in The Herald newspaper. Not to mention the fact that he is also the announcer for Plymouth Argyle on match days at Home Park.

David says: "I'm really delighted to be starting at Radio Devon after 26 years of looking for a proper job. I reckon the first couple of shows should be really interesting as the equipment the BBC uses works in totally the opposite way to any radio desk I've ever used before!"

Robert Wallace, Managing Editor, Radio Devon, says: "It's great to have David as part of the presentation team at BBC Radio Devon. His energy and passion for Devon is obvious and I'm sure he'll quickly become a firm favourite with our listeners."

Notes to Editors

David will also be standing in for Judi Spiers whilst she is on holiday for the week commencing Monday 14 May.
