BBC to bring its global debate programme from Columbus

BBC World Service is teaming up with WOSU in Columbus to stage live broadcasts of its flagship interactive radio and online programme, World, Have Your Say from Ohio, USA.

On Tuesday 20 March, BBC presenter Ros Atkins and Fred Andrle of WOSU's Open Line will host a special debate from the WOSU studio at COSI in downtown Columbus.

World, Have Your Say invites listeners and online users to share their views with a worldwide audience and ask questions on key issues in the news.

The co-production with WOSU is part of a series of the BBC's outside broadcasts from the US and will be followed by joint programmes with KOPB in Portland, Oregon.

Ros Atkins said: "Some of the most exhilarating editions of World, Have Your Say have been broadcast from America.

"I think back to taking calls from Baghdad and Afghanistan while at WCPN in Cleveland, or when Detroiters at WDET sparked a worldwide debate about affirmative action, and get so excited about what World, Have Your Say can do.

"I can't wait for this trip and to hear what people in Ohio want to talk to the world about."
