Radio Gloucestershire gains 16,000 new listeners over a year

BBC Radio Gloucestershire has gained 16,000 extra listeners over the last year and now has an average weekly audience of 94,000 according to figures released.

The figures are from Rajar (Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd), an independent survey system which tracks radio listening for both BBC and commercial stations.

The period measured was from March to September 2006.

Mark Hurrell, Managing Editor, Radio Gloucestershire, says: "We are absolutely thrilled that our audience figures are up once again and with 94,000 tuning in each week that's the highest total for the last three years.

"Our breakfast show, with Mark Cummings at the helm and a major emphasis on travel news, is proving a real winner.

"Our weekend line-up is also very successful with Faye Hatcher and Vernon Harwood attracting new listeners.

And our exclusive commentary rights for Gloucester Rugby and Cheltenham Town bring a big audience to us as well."
