Rhodri Talfan Davies is to join BBC Wales as Head of Marketing, Communications & Audiences, it was announced today by Menna Richards, Controller BBC Wales.
"I'm delighted to welcome Rhodri to BBC Wales," said Menna Richards.
"With his
considerable experience of the broadcasting industry - across both the public
and private sectors - I am confident he will help BBC Wales meet the challenge
of serving our audiences in a fully-digital world."
Rhodri Talfan Davies joins BBC Wales from ntl, where he is currently Director of
Television Marketing.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge immensely," he said.
"The current pace of
change within the broadcast and media world is phenomenal, so it's going to be
more important than ever that the BBC understands how the needs and expectations
of its audiences are evolving."
Rhodri Talfan Davies began his career as a television journalist with the BBC in
Newcastle, Manchester and London before being appointed Head of Programmes at
BBC West in Bristol, where he was responsible for all television, online and
local radio services.
More recently, as Director of Television at Video Networks, he led the
development and launch of the UK's first broadband television on-demand service,
HomeChoice, in London.
He will take over as BBC Wales Head of Marketing, Communications & Audiences
from Huw Roberts, who retires from the role later this year.
