Radio Norfolk hits an all time high

The sun is shining on BBC Radio Norfolk today after official figures revealed the number of people listening to the station has reached an all time high.

271,000 people in the county now listen to Radio Norfolk each week, that's 21,000 more than listened a year ago.

This means that nearly 38 per cent of adults in the county are tuned to the station each week.

The results put the station in friendly competition with its sister station BBC Radio Jersey - the only other BBC local radio station to have a higher percentage of listeners than Radio Norfolk.

This is the icing on the cake for Radio Norfolk, as the station also found out this week that it was a runner-up in the Station of the Year category at the prestigious Sony Radio Academy Awards, the Oscars of the radio industry.

Radio Norfolk Editor David Clayton says: "It's brilliant! We've never seen a listening figure as high as this in all our 25 years.

"It's a great endorsement of what we know already - we have a talented team making radio at The Forum who love broadcasting to Norfolk and with Norfolk!"

These latest figures were released today by Rajar (Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd).
