BBC programmes and talent took 13 top prizes at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards last night - including the Judges' Award for BBC Head of Comedy Jon Plowman.
The Judges' Award is presented in recognition of an outstanding contribution to UK television programming over a number of years.
BBC Director of Television Jana Bennett described Jon Plowman as one of the leading figures in British comedy.
She said: "With a comedy pedigree longer than his arm, he has made British comedy stand out in British broadcasting."
Jana Bennett, who congratulated all BBC winners, said: "BBC TWO had a particularly good night demonstrating its brilliant range of programmes including the very moving Holocaust, a Music Memorial Film from Auschwitz and Children of Beslan."
