The Regulars and The Guest Cast

The Regulars

Noreen Kershaw plays Phyllis, the unflappable desk Sergeant

Phyllis is on the front line when it comes to slinging suspects in the cells. She is a no nonsense lady who, if she lived in 2006, would probably be described as a ballbreaker. But in these times of overt sexism and bum pinching, Phyllis can give as good as she gets and demands the respect of her male colleagues

Noreen has had a varied career in film, TV and theatre. Audiences will recognise her from Peak Practice but she has also appeared in shows as varied as Watching, Young Indy, Alan Bleasdale's Jake's Progress, Coronation Street and Albion Market.

Tony Marshall plays Nelson, the barman who is all ears

Nelson is the ‘Jamaican' bartender at the CID's local but only Sam knows his secret – he is as Mancunian as they come. Nelson is the man people go to for a drink and a chat. He offers his words of wisdom to an increasingly troubled Sam and acts as his sound board for his theories as to how and why he has ended up in this alien world.

Tony is best known for playing Diesel in BBC drama The Preston Front but has appeared in many well known TV shows such as Judge John Deed, Wing and a Prayer, The Queen's Nose and Only Fools and Horses.

Key Guests

Episode 3

Rebecca Atkinson plays Tina, the pregnant girlfriend of a mill worker who gets mixed up in a murder case.

Rebecca is best known for playing Karen in Paul Abbott's Shameless, the mouthy and tarty daughter of Frank's girlfriend, Sheila.

John Henshaw plays Ted, an outspoken worker, and union rep, at the Textile Mill and therefore Gene's prime suspect in the murder case.

Best known for playing Ken the pub landlord in Early Doors, John's previous credits include The Cops, Born and Bred and The Royle Family.

Episode 4

Kelly Wenham plays go-go dancer Jodi who gets caught in the crossfire as Sam tries to put a stop to club owner Warren's unscrupulous behaviour.

Kelly played Jess Buckley in Where the Heart Is and Julie Priestly in Steel River Blues.

Joanne Froggatt plays Sam's Mum. Sam revisits his family home and is determined to help his mother out of a financial situation.

Joanne's previous credits include Coronation Street, Bad Girls, Island at War and Eyewitness: The Danielle Cable Story.

Episode 8

Lee Ingleby plays Sam's Dad. Having disappeared when Sam was four years old, Sam's dad is something of a mystery to his estranged son. Sam is keen to find out why he left but, as he discovers more about his father, Sam may be in for a disappointment.

Lee will be best known to Harry Potter fans as Stan Shunpike in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. His credits also include Early Doors, Master & Commander and Nature Boy.
