CBBC is making bold steps into new territories with the commissioning of a drama documentary from Hat Trick Productions on the July London bombings.
CBBC Controller Alison Sharman and Jon East, CBBC Head of Drama, announced today they have commissioned the breakthrough one-hour drama documentary which will tell the story of the 7/7 bombings told through the eyes of children.
Alison Sharman said: "This breaks new territory for CBBC. It's both our first commission from Hat Trick and our first foray into drama documentary.
"Indeed - in terms of addressing such a sensitive issue via drama it's a first for any UK broadcaster.
"We are delighted that Mark Redhead - Hat Trick's Head of Drama and the producer of such acclaimed drama-docs as Bloody Sunday and The Murder of Stephen Lawrence - will help bring this difficult but vital material to our young audience."
It is expected that the film will transmit around the first anniversary of the London bombings.
