The BBC's New Media team is on the hunt for promising young journalists between the ages of 16 and 19 to take part in the Blast Young Reporter Scheme 2005, to work alongside the local BBC Where I Live websites.

Successful applicants will be given an eight week unpaid work experience placement, giving them the opportunity to learn more about the BBC and expand upon their writing and reporting skills.

The rookie reporters will work closely with the teams who create the BBC's Where I Live websites (bbc.co.uk/england) and they'll be required to work on a part-time basis between July and September 2005.

Claire McArthur, Support Manager, English Regions New Media, says: "The young reporters will be responsible for maintaining a Blast section on their local website. They will provide weekly updates on any aspect of the Arts within their area.

"We are looking for reporters aged between 16 and 19 from a wide range of local backgrounds, who feel passionate about the Arts whether it be hiphop, Bhangra, Bollywood or ballet."

Young reporters are required to work on the Where I Live websites from the following areas: Birmingham; Bristol; Bradford; Cambridge; Coventry; Cornwall (Truro); Cumbria (Carlisle); Derby; Devon (Plymouth); Essex (Chelmsford); Gloucester; Hull; Worcester; Jersey; Kent (Tunbridge Wells); Leeds; Leicester; Liverpool; Lincoln; Manchester; Norfolk (Norwich); Nottingham; North Yorkshire (York); Shropshire (Shrewsbury); Somerset (Taunton); South Yorkshire; Stoke; Suffolk (Ipswich); and Tees (Middlesbrough).
