Zeinab Badawi is the new presenter of The World on BBC FOUR, the UK's first daily news bulletin devoted principally to international news.
Zeinab said: "I am delighted to be joining the BBC FOUR team.
"I have always greatly admired The World and I hope I will be able to help build further on the strengths and successes that the programme has already enjoyed."
Janice Hadlow, Controller of BBC FOUR, added: "Zeinab brings great experience and personality to The World and I am delighted to welcome her to BBC FOUR."
The World is broadcast daily from Monday to Friday at 8.00pm.
The half-hour programme draws on the BBC's newsgathering operation - the largest in the world with more bureaux and specialist correspondents than any other broadcaster.
Zeinab has been in broadcasting for nearly two decades.
She co-presented Channel 4 News with Jon Snow for nearly ten years (1989 to 1998).
She joined the BBC and worked at Westminster on live political programmes for five years.
Zeinab is as much at home presenting in the studio as she is reporting live from the party conferences.
She has also worked in radio - regularly presenting the World Tonight on BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service's Newshour.
Zeinab is an Oxford graduate in politics and economics with a post-graduate degree on the Middle East from London University (awarded with a distinction).
