Are you dafter than a brush? Do your friends think you're a little eccentric?

Are you fed up with people saying you are as foolish as a ferret in a suit? Well, if so, we want to hear from you.

Yes, those zany folk at BBC WM have joined forces with the Sunday Mercury and are looking to find the Maddest Midlanders - people who stand out from the crowd because of their unusual hobby, strange collection or different lifestyle.

Maddest Midlanders is a quirky celebration of the region's eccentrics, allowing people who are passionate about a hobby or a habit to show that they are not afraid to share their unconventional natures.

During the wackiest of weeks - Monday 28 February to Sunday 6 March - BBC WM presenters will also be revealing their own unusual character traits.

Just how awful, for instance, can Adrian Goldberg's record collection really be?

What is it about trains that Les Ross just can't resist?

And what other silly secrets will be revealed during the week?

Adrian, BBC WM's breakfast host, says: "Regular listeners to my programme might think they already know about my slightly unusual musical tastes.

"But I think even they might be surprised to learn about some of the stuff I listen to at home.

"But, for me, this is what Maddest Midlanders is all about, people revealing what they're passionate about and not taking themselves too seriously."

On Sunday 6 March live on BBC WM (9.00am-noon), Les Ross will present a special trophy and a mad prize to the person judged to deserve the honour of Maddest Midlander.

If you think you've got what it takes to become the Maddest Midlander call the WM Action line on 08453 030 030.
