Look North presenter Helen Fospero is to leave Look North after working in the BBC East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire region since its launch just over two years ago.

Helen says: "Juggling a baby and a husband, who works in London, has become too difficult. It is with great regret that I have decided to leave the programme.

"I have made some wonderful new friends in my time in Hull and had a marvellous time - but, as always, family must come first."

Helen Thomas, Head of Regional and Local Programmes for BBC East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, says: "Helen has been at the very heart of our team here in Hull since we launched the new BBC region.

"Helen has been an important part of Look North's success and she will be greatly missed by viewers and colleagues.

"I wish her well in her future career."

Cleethorpes-born Helen Fospero joined BBC Look North in Hull from GMTV where she was the station's US correspondent, based in New York.

She teamed up with Peter Levy to present the new edition of the BBC ONE 6.30pm evening news programme for East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire.

She began her career as a journalist on local newspapers in Lincolnshire before working as a reporter in London.

She then joined Sky News and, later, GMTV as their showbiz correspondent, where she interviewed stars such as Elton John, Michael Douglas and Robert Redford.

Her two year stint as US correspondent for GMTV included coverage of the September 11 attacks and she has reported on everything from showbiz to the presidential elections.
