BBC signs Shearer from August 2004

The BBC today
announced that Alan Shearer has signed a new three year deal for the
corporation. He has signed for BBC Sport as a football analyst and pundit.
He will play for Newcastle United next year and so
will concentrate primarily on England matches for the BBC during 2004/5.
Niall Sloane, BBC Head of Football, said: "Alan
Shearer will bring a wealth of Premier League and international experience
to our team.
"We are thrilled he has agreed to join us. The
man is a legend."
