Patrick Kielty Almost Live returns for a fifth series

Funnyman Patrick Kielty makes a welcome return to Belfast and BBC ONE in the New Year for a fifth series of the highly acclaimed chat show, Patrick Kielty Almost Live.

The series kicks off on Friday 10 January at 10.35pm on BBC ONE for a ten week run.

The show, recorded in front of a studio audience in Belfast, will feature an eclectic mix of celebrity guests, topical satire and outside broadcasts in true Kielty style.

Patrick's guests are well-known names plucked from the world of entertainment, music, sport and politics.

Rupert Everett, Nicole and Natalie Appleton, Holly Valance, Suede, Harry Enfield, Eddy Irvine, Gordon Ramsey and Peter Kay are just a few of the names who joined Patrick in Belfast during the last series earlier this year.

Mike Edgar, Head of Entertainment and Events, BBC Northern Ireland said:

"It's been a fantastic year for Patrick. The last series of Patrick Kielty Almost Live saw him weave his wicked charm with Prime Ministers, Formula One racing drivers and the cream of British entertainment.

"Patrick's ability to boldly go where others fear to tread has won him a dedicated fan base and all this in the same year as Fame Academy.

"Paddy is undoubtedly one of the BBC's rising stars and if the plans for his new series are anything to go by he won't disappoint!"

Executive Producer and Director Stephen Stewart, Green Inc. Film and Television said:

"We're excited to be back on BBC ONE so soon, and also very proud that we're now onto our fifth series.

"It's a huge vote of confidence in the talent involved. Almost Live stands out as a high quality series with unique strengths, including obviously Patrick who has rapidly emerged as one of the BBC's strongest new talents, and the show's distinctive home in the great city of Belfast sets it aside from the majority of other shows."

Commissioned by Lorraine Heggessey, Controller BBC ONE and Jane Lush, Controller Entertainment Commissioning, Patrick Kielty Almost Live is a Green Inc. Film & Television production in association with BBC Northern Ireland.

The series will be produced from the BBC Northern Ireland studios in Belfast.

Mike Edgar is the Executive Producer for BBC Northern Ireland with Green Inc's Stephen Stewart as Director and Executive Producer. Rob Baker is the Series Producer.
