Showtime Wales

We Love Wales because it is the land of song.

Now some of the best loved shows and show tunes will be brought to BBC 2W with a ten-part programme from the first ever International Festival of Musical Theatre being staged in Cardiff.

For 15 minutes every weekday night for two whole weeks of the festival, all the highlights from the day's performances, talks, concerts and masterclasses are brought to BBC 2W screens in Showtime Wales, one of the biggest commitments to the arts from BBC Wales.

In addition presenter Amanda Protheroe Thomas - stationed in a special studio at the heart of the festival - and roving reporter Frances Donovan will meet established stars of the musical stage, as well as new faces yet to be discovered, in the first ever schools edition of the musical masterpiece Les Miserables.

Showtime Wales will celebrate the phenomenon that is musical theatre, visiting the various venues to discover who is watching what, going behind the scenes of performances such as the show voted Best Musical of the Century by Time Magazine, Carousel, and the European premiere of Ragtime, and reporting back with news, reviews and much more.

Starting on Monday 21 October, Showtime Wales will bring a daily dose of music, celebrities and Festival fun at 9.15pm every weekday evening until Friday 1 November.
