
 New
Managing Editors for BBC Local Radio Stations
BBC
English Regions today announced the appointment of new Managing
Editors for BBC Radios Stoke, Shropshire and Suffolk.
Sue
Owen, appointed at BBC Radio Stoke, is joining the BBC
from the Chrysalis Group where she has worked for seven years, currently
as the National Editorial Director for the Digital News Network.
She
is not a complete stranger to the BBC, having worked at BBC Radio
York in the late 1980s. Sue is replacing Mark Hurrell, who is moving
to a new position as Managing Editor of BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
Gerald
Main is taking over at BBC Radio Suffolk in succession
to David Peel, who is retiring from the BBC.
Gerald
is currently presenter of the consumer show at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
He joined BBC Local Radio in 1979 as a station assistant at BBC
Radio Lancashire.
Since
then he has accummulated a wealth of experience, including spells
at BBC Radio Northampton, BBC Three Counties Radio and BBC Radio
Training.
The
new Managing Editor at BBC Radio Shropshire is Tim Pemberton,
who is currently running BBC Radio 2002 - the Commonwealth Games
radio station.
Previously,
Tim was a senior producer in Religion & Ethics at BBC Manchester,
co-ordinating major projects such as the annual Faith in the Nations
Week and the Young Choristers of the Year competition.
He
joined the BBC in 1989 as a production trainee in BBC Midlands so
is returning to home turf. Tim is successor to Tony Fish, who is
retiring from the BBC.
