As
part of the build up to England's momentous clash with Brazil in
the World Cup Quarter Finals on Friday 21st June, BBC ONE will be
showing their previous encounter from 1970 on Wednesday 19 June
at 10.35pm.
Kick-off on 21st June 2002 will mark the first meeting between these
two famous teams in the World Cup since 1970 - when Zairzinho’s
single goal settled the epic encounter.
Ominously for England, Brazil also won matches against England on
the way to their two previous World Cup triumphs in 1958 and 1962.
The last friendly meeting was just before Euro 2000 - a 1-1 draw
at Wembley. Brazil last beat England in the Tournoi tournament in
1997. England last won a meeting in 1990.
