Every true Israeli patriot ought to do something very un-Israeli today: lower his head or hers, and apologize very humbly to the dead and injured of the "Free Gaza Movement" flotilla... Forget PR and screw the usual defenses. This time we are guilty as sin. I am ashamed of my government.
She is not alone. Rob Kall feels the same way. And writer Peter Beinart says young American Jews are turning away from Israel because of the Jewish establishment's uncritical support for it.
But the Israeli Ambassador to Ireland, Dr Zion Evrony, who's been called to parliament to explain Israel's actions, says he's neither ashamed nor embarrassed by what had happened.
And Richard asking on his blog if Israel should be ashamed, concludes
it should regret the results of its actions, it regrets making assumptions it just shouldn't have made. And it apologized for it. But Israel never claimed to be a perfect country
