On Air: Is it wrong to auction your virginity?

Ben James Ben James | 10:24 UK time, Tuesday, 11 May 2010

This is one of a group of Australians who have offered to sell their virginity as part of a reality TV show.

This woman is another.

The whole idea has provoked a strong reaction.

There have been a number of stories about individual auctions of virginity before, but, as this blogger states, this takes it to a whole new televisual level.

So is it sordid, as this headline would have it?

Does it take reality TV to a new depth? Some of these commenters think so.

Or is it a legitimate art project "exploring the idea of virginity as a commodity" as the filmmaker, Justin Sisely, was quoted as saying when the whole thing began?

If those taking part are doing so willingly, then what is the problem?
