Fanfare for the Commonwealth
As i'm sure you're an avid reader of our humble blog, i expect you already know that Don McKinnon is our guest on the programme today. Here's Peter's original posting, and we've tidied up the spelling and punctuation since he wrote it.
The story that has been making waves overnight fortuitously involves a Commonwealth country - Australia. Five senior Muslim clerics have been banned - by their own Muslim association - from speaking to the media. One of them, Sheikh Taj el-Din al-Hilali , likened unveiled women to uncooked meat.

Fiji - who are currently suspended from the club after the military coup there- have been the subject of a damning report this week from the U.S. Department of State over human rights abuses against people who spoke out against the coup, including the sexual molestation of women.
Uganda has troops in Somalia trying to help keep the peace there and have already come under fire in Mogadishu..
The UNHCR has urged Malaysia not to think of the 700 thousand illegal migrants in their country as criminals......the government says it won't recognise refugees because they fear a wave of migrants fleeing poverty...
Sri Lanka's bloody war with the Tamil Tigers is still raging...
