...Not quite the talk you'd expect to hear from a member of the audience embracing World Have Your Say Team really is it? No, it isn't the Monday morning in January blues getting to me. Those words were typed by LA Times columnist Joel Stein, who in this article, explains his rather unconventional view on audience participation. As you know, we don't necessarily share his view, so in our normal spirit of things, what would you like to talk about on the programme today?

Protestors have taken to the streets of the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, to try and bring about electoral reform.

The Indian State of Assam remains on high alert following the killings of Hindi-speaking migrant workers by the ULFA in the last two days.

Delhi police have linked a series of child murders to a black market in human organs. According to relatives, their disappearances had been ignored by the local police, again raising questions over the quality of justice received by the poor.

The Democrats have stepped up the pressure on President Bush not to send more troops to Iraq, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said yesterday she will not give President Bush a blank cheque.

Here in the UK, following Chancellor of the Exchequor Gordon Brown's condemnation of Saddam Hussein's execution, PM Tony Blair has said the manner in which it was conducted was completely wrong. My thought on this is that it says more about the relationship between Blair and the man most likely to to take over him this year, that it does about the government's attitude to the execution, so it's probably not a talking point for us today.

Mark has phoned to tell me about New York rapper NYOil, who has called for his rivals to be lynched. A provocative word in itself - is this all about gaining publicity? Or is he making a genuine point? Read the article and let me know what you think (Sorry Joel Stein...)
