Wepre Park: Plans to revive old hall and gardens need your help

Friends of Wepre Park are asking for people to share any old photos or documents to do with the time the country park was once a private estate.

The info will help in the Friends' formal application for Lottery money - from the Parks for People fund - to help with the restoration of original features in the 160 acre park and woodland.

Gilly Seddon and Tom Woodall from Flintshire Countryside Service, based at Wepre Park Visitor Centre, are hoping people will get in touch, explaining application judges want to see evidence of how the park used to look.

"If grant aid can be sourced, it would mean the restoration of some of the original features to their former glory," they say.

Moel Famau and Jubilee Tower

Expect to see more in the media about Moel Famau over the next few months as July marks the area's 25th anniversary as an ANOB and October is the Jubilee Tower's 200th anniversary.

Of late I've been working on our first story, Jubilee Tower's 200th anniversary celebrations; editing a short film, flying over the summit of Moel Famau; finding weblinks, tagged moelfamau; as well as managing a photo group of fans of Moel Famau via Flickr.

Whilst I haven't been able to include in our story everything I've gleaned, I thought I'd share my other finds here.

Local groups awarded grants to support their work

Children in Need today announces the latest round of grants with £60,000 coming to two local groups:-

Prestatyn Cricket Club, Prestatyn - £25,500
The cash will help a project to work with young people to increase their confidence and self esteem, and improve well being by enabling them to play cricket and involving them in social activities.

Women's Aid Delyn, Holywell - £35,290
The project provides information and support to children and young people suffering from the effects of domestic abuse.

Aside from Children in Need, there are other stories of payouts today.
