SoundTown launch at Alva Academy
Radio Scotland's SoundTown school for 2008/09 is Alva Academy in Clackmannanshire.
During the SoundTown project, BBC Scotland installs a radio studio in the secondary school for a year, broadcasting a number of Radio Scotland shows from there. Staff and pupils will have the opportunity to participate and make their own programmes, learning media skills with support from BBC staff.
Alva Academy was in the news recently with their pilot scheme where 'virtual teachers' aid pupils, an internet video initiative using teachers' vodcasts to support homework and out-of-school-hours learning. Find out more about the initiative on the Alva Academy webpage, as well as more about SoundTown at Alva.
It's the sixth year of SoundTown, previously at Doon Academy, Grangemouth High School, Elgin High School, Kelso High School and Baldragon Academy.
