Passing Guatemala in a Blur

In just five days I cycled across Guatemala, and this included a day off in Antigua - such small countries through Central America give a wonderful illusion of speed! Last week was very busy, as for the first time since leaving Anchorage I was joined by a BBC cameraman.

Part of the colourful and busy market where my wallet was stolen.

Over 90% of this series will be filmed by me, but it is good to have another cameraman join me for a short section per programme to give a little perspective of me in the landscape.

Whilst it has been really nice to see a familiar face for the first time in months I was absolutely ready to be left to my own world again when he left. The people of Guatemala and El Salvador have been incredibly friendly and I love the Latino spirit.

Nothing seems to happen very quickly, but this isn't a problem unless you are in a rush! Most villages have people swinging in hammocks, some ladies in colourful dresses, a few chickens and pigs running around, some music blaring from open doorways and on a few occasions, people dancing in the streets!
