Wall Street makes way for Washington

With multi-billion dollar government bailouts propping up the US banking sector, much of the focus in financial circles is shifting from New York to the nation's capital, Washington DC.

For many key business players, policy decisions are no longer taken amid the concrete canyons of Manhattan.

Instead, the wide avenues of Washington have become the setting for America's - and indeed much of the rest of the world's - financial interests, as White House officials and legislators in Congress seek to rebuild a crumbling economy.

It's been a big change not just for the companies involved, but for journalists working in the US, including the BBC's Washington correspondent Jamie Coomarasamy.
